They have three children and are members of Stonegate Fellowship Church.\n\nCity Council Member\nDistrict 4\nAmy Stretcher Burkes\n\n\n\n\n\n\n     Amy Stretcher Burkes was born and raised in Midland\, graduated from Midland Christian\, received an Associate degree from Midland College\, and a BS in Human Resources from Texas A&M University.  She and her husband lived in Kansas City for 5 years and in Minneapolis for 1 year while he completed his Residency and Fellowship training. Amy became politically active in the Republican Party while living in Kansas. In Minnesota she was a National Delegate to the Republican Convention\, State Treasurer for the Minnesota Young Republicans\, and a Senate District Board Member. When Amy and her husband returned to Midland\, she helped form Midland County Young Republicans where she served as Treasurer\, and joined the Midland County Republican Women’s Club where she serves as a board member.\nAmy’s political journey began in Midland when the City notified homeowners in her neighborhood of the intent to rezone Nueva Vista Golf Golf. During that process\, she became aware of city leadership and the need to become a part of the process in support of police\, firefighters\, and investment of critical infrastructure. Amy and her husband\, Dr. Jonathan Burkes\, have three daughters. In 2012\, Matt was elected to the Texas House of Representatives for House District 93. During his five terms of service\, Matt was consistently recognized for his legislative efforts supporting limited government\, fiscal responsibility\, pro-life causes\, the 2nd Amendment\, and religious liberty. He served as Chairman of the General Investigating Committee and on numerous other committees\, such as the Civil Jurisprudence and Judiciary Committee\, the Transportation Committee\, Redistricting Committee\, and Committee on Culture\, Recreation\, & Tourism. Matt was a founding member of the Texas Freedom Caucus in the Texas House. He and his wife\, Jennie\, live in the Fort Worth area with their five children.\n\n\n\n\n     Chris Hopper is the President of Texas Family Project. Howard joined Midland Independent School District as the Superintendent of Schools on January 3\, 2023. She is in her 28th year in education. Prior to joining Midland ISD\, she served as the superintendent for Crane ISD where the district improved from a D rating to a B rating (85) in 2022. She has served as the deputy superintendent for Ector County ISD. She also served as superintendent in Plains ISD.\nDr. Howard was the high school principal at Robert E. Lee High School for six years before moving into district administration. Prior to the high school principal position\, Stephanie was principal at San Jacinto Junior High School for three years. She served as an instructional services director and assistant principal for four years before becoming a principal. The first year in Midland ISD\, Stephanie taught communication courses at Midland High School and coached the debate team.\nBefore moving to Midland to pursue a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership\, Stephanie taught English and communications\, coached cross country\, basketball\, track\, and served as the high school cheer sponsor in Stanton.  Dr. Howard earned her Doctoral Degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio\, her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and holds a principal and superintendent certification in the State of Texas. GOVERNOR DAN PATRICK \n \n\nDan Patrick was first elected lieutenant governor of Texas in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. A preeminent voice for principled conservative policies in Texas and across the nation\, Lt. Governor Patrick is leading the fight for life and liberty including securing the border\, reducing property and business taxes\, standing up for the Second Amendment and addressing Texas’ infrastructure challenges to assure that our state continues to flourish economically.\nLt.
